FIRST AID & CPR with AED

Our First Aid and CPR with AED course is designed for non-healthcare personnel looking to increase their skills and confidence in an emergency. This course focuses on the basics of life-saving first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Certificate is granted by the Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI), a nationally recognized training organization for emergency care. ECSI is supported by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American College of Emergency Physicians. 

An ECSI certificate is recognized by thousands of organizations throughout the United States and across the globe. ECSI is accepted by regulatory bodies such as OSHA, The Joint Commission, and state offices of EMS, Education, and Health. See here for more information about ECSI regulatory approvals.

Things to Note:

  • Certificate is valid for 2 years

  • ECSI curriculum is 100% OSHA compliant

  • Handbooks will be provided to students on the day of the course

  • Students must attend and participate in all aspect of their course to be eligible for certificate

  • Students must pass a written exam and a skills exam in order to receive their certificate

  • Course follows Emergency Care & Safety Institute curriculum

In-Person Course

4 hours, All in-person

Cost: $80, all supplies and textbook included

This in-person course consists of 4-hours full of discussion, lecture, skills practice, and patient scenarios.

Course Eligibility

  • Must be at least 16 years of age 

  • Health status that permits up to 4 hour days of sitting, standing, squatting, and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. 

  • Medical and medication history that could impact your ability to complete the course should be disclosed to course instructors to facilitate and ensure the safety of students 

  • Be prepared by completing any pre-assigned course work and arrive to class ready to engage and participate in all learning activities

  • Be inclusive and respectful to all other students and participate in learning activities with students from varying backgrounds

Course Objectives

After our course, learners should be able to:

  • Maintain rescuer and patient safety

  • Assess airway and implement airway opening techniques

  • Perform rescue breathing with bag valve mask

  • Perform chest compressions

  • Implement appropriate CPR ratios for child and adult patients

  • Set-up and follow AED prompting during CPR

  • Perform maneuvers to assist a choking patient

  • Communicate with EMS
